CHON BURI: A Danish man died during a parachute jump after his chute failed to open near an airfield in Sri Racha district on Saturday.
The incident occurred at the jump site near the Nong Khor reservoir in tambon Nong Kham, said Pol Col Khongsak Boonsuesuwan, chief of the Nong Kham police station, who was alerted at 12.30pm.
The 30-year-old Danish man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was found lying face-up and unconscious, with blood coming from his mouth and nose. His injuries included a broken left leg, Thai media reported.
Medics gave him first aid before taking him to Phayathai Sriracha Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police that the man had gone to the airfield to take part in a parachute jump. Staff had checked the equipment before the man boarded a small plane, but he plunged to the ground as his chute failed to open.
