ALBANY — Caffe Italia joined a growing list of restaurants that has had to temporarily shutdown after one of its employees was exposed to COVID-19.

As in the case of the Albany location of the Tipsy Moose, which also announced its temporary closure Wednesday, it was a kitchen worker who had possible contact with the virus.

At the Tipsy Moose, its worker did test positive. In Caffe Italia’s case, the employee had “exposure to individuals outside of work that have tested positive for COVID-19. This employee notified us immediately and has since gone to get tested and is awaiting results.”

Caffe Italia said the employee last worked on July 18.

“Our top priority (is) to ensure the health and safety of our staff, customers, and families,” the Central Avenue restaurant posted on its Facebook page Wednesday.  Caffe Italia said it has remained diligent with sanitation efforts and with using PPE.

“We will be closed until further notice in order for all staff members to be tested and to sanitize our establishment,” the restaurant said.

The Tipsy Moose location in Albany said it closed Tuesday afternoon to sanitize the restaurant after a kitchen worker there tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee received the positive test results Tuesday afternoon. The person worked at the restaurant July 17 and 18. The employee had no symptoms, but got tested “due to personal contact outside of work.”
